Innovation From the Start
Up until the time when Mr. Mahmoud Khalili, nicknamed the father of Iranian Gas Industry, founded Butane Company for distributing LPG, Iran was losing its rich natural gas resource.
In 1954, along with Mr. Mohsen Khalili, a small unit was established to build the first generation of gas cylinders and gas burning appliances. This unit grew quickly and 10 years later, Butane Industrial Company (BIC) was independently formed to create the first and largest producer of gas cylinders and gas burning appliances. During a short period with the efforts of Mr. Saeed Khalili, BIC enjoyed considerable growth rate and offered its second generation of gas burning appliances with over 200 products and models. Customers labeled Butane’s products as “the sure choice.”
Continuous Creativity
With the change in living conditions and higher customer expectations, in 1988 BIC began the production and distribution of the third generation of its gas burning appliances and within 7 years managed to multiply its water-heater production tenfold, in order to keep up with rising customer demands. This achievement was strengthened with another accomplishment: During the same period, BIC not only locally produced most of the parts that were imported up to this point, but also exported many of the locally produced parts to European countries such as Germany and the UK.
Again, in keeping up with customer lifestyles and rising expectations, BIC began the production of wall-mounted combination water heater/boiler and microwave ovens. Today, BIC is proud to have its third generation of products installed in over 2,000,000 Iranian homes.
Commitment to the Advancement of National Industry
By using up-to-date knowledge from the beginning, BIC has been considered a pioneer in the industry, and by cooperating in the writing and applying of the national standards for gas burning equipment, BIC has made a big contribution to strengthening Iran’s industry culture. Year after year, the National Standards Organization has recognized BIC as a model in the industry. In 1995, BIC’s test lab was accredited. From 1996 to 1999, BIC was awarded the ISO 9002, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and CE standards from reputable European companies. In 2001, the Office of Environmental Protection presented BIC with its Green Industry Award, in recognition for BIC’s environmental conscious efforts.
